ABOUT DAVE BROWN

I am a God-fearing man.

I love my Best Friend who is also my wife, Judy.

I have 3 sons and 2 daughters.

I have 8 grandchildren.

I have 4 young people whom I coached that are unofficially my adopted children.

My parents loved me and effectively used good teachable moments to help me grow into the man I am today.

I have an older sister (Judy) who is my guardian angel and always takes care of me, even in the darkest times.

I have 3 brothers. My older brother Steve, who wasn't around much due to being much older than me, is always here for me when I need him.

My parents taught me to never judge a person based on their exterior, but to always look at the heart. They also taught me that money is a tool, and that no amount, big or small, can bring eternal happiness, nor can it define a person's worth.

Growing up, sports were my saving grace. I loved basketball, football, baseball and motorcycle-riding the most. At age 15, I broke my back and as a result, had to make a difficult choice about my future and playing sports. So I did, and my new reality was devastating. But the Lord was with me, He healed me and things worked out.

I have many people to thank for inspiring me in my journey.  Mrs. Carol of Newberg was such an inspiration in my life. She was my neighbor who just helped me so much. I loved her for always being so kind.

My friends Larry S., Curt S., Bill H., Larry K., Ricky B., Dan C., Mark L., Dan F., and George A. were all friends I grew up with. Together, we embarked on many adventures and miraculously, no one died in the process.

Dottie Dormer from the Bowling Alley changed my life. Also, Mrs Morton, who was my 3rd grade teacher, gave me so much confidence I thought I could be anything. Mrs Williams was my 5th grade teacher. She was the best teacher ever, and she got me to act in plays and step outside of the comfort of sports. Her encouragement to do something new would later in my life. My 7th grade teacher, Mr. Altenader was the perfect man to show me the right way to do stuff when I didn't know up from down. He was so patient, a great teacher. Mr. Pete Russo from Newberg High School was the biggest inspiration for my style of teaching and coaching.  Although I played hoops and Mr. Pete Russo was the legendary wrestling coach, I admired him a great deal. At college, Mr. Owens was a small man whom I loved very much. He was a bit of a jerk most of the time, but if you worked hard and got to know and respect him, he was awesome.  My basketball IQ went through the roof because of his influence.

After my wife Judy, my second favorite "human" is Lucy, my chocolate lab. She has been and always will be one of my best friends.  I love the Cincinnati Reds, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Oregon State Beavers.  I loved the Celtics of the 1980's with Larry Bird and Mchale, Ainge, Johnson, Cornbread, The Chief and the rest.  When it comes to music, some of my favorite artists include the Beatles, Elvis, and George Strait.  Today, you'll find me playing golf, tennis, and working out.  YOu might be surprised to learn that I paint and have sold several of my paintings and drawings.  I love lemon meringue pie, and my homemade cinnamon rolls. On a Friday night, you will find me watching El Dorado, Tombstone, Gladiator, or North by Northwest with Cary Grant.  I love to read and garden and my favorite place to visit is the Oregon coast.
